Charles De Lint' s
Novel The Harp Of The Grey Rose
In this Fantasy novel De Lint use a technique that I will call Short Story Chapers.
For each chapter could stand alone as a short story complete with title, beginning, middle and end. These stories weave toether the life of Cerin of Wran Cheaping the main character.
What are rules for this type of novel?
As far I can tell:
- They begin with a title
- Follow the general rules of grammar and spelling
- Follow the format of a short story
- Have one or two major events per chapter
- Each chapter leads to the next event
- Each chapter weaves characters or events from perversely chapters
- Through the short stories there seem to be a general theme connecting them together
Are their other writer using this technique?
